Phase I: DEPDEP stands for Detoxification/Elimination/Provocation. The NaturalSize Me! program begins with DEP. During DEP, expect to:
In the DEP phase, you cleanse and detoxify, eliminating foods that are congestive to your body. Your body (especially your liver) will improve its ability to function. Because you will eliminate foods you are sensitive to, your body will not need to hold onto water and fat to protect your cells. You may lose more weight during these three weeks than on any standard weight loss plan. For three short weeks you will be eating from a list of healthy foods. This list has eliminated additives, preservatives, and all foods that could possibly cause allergies or sensitivities. You are basically eating foods in the way nature intended. Also recommended is a medical food (powder) that aids in detoxification. At the end of the three weeks, you will gradually and methodically bring back—one at a time—the foods you eliminated, to see which foods provoke a response. During the reintroduction phase, if you’ve been losing weight, your weight loss will slow down. That’s what we want! During the next six weeks you will allow your body to Catch Up! with your weight loss as you learn to maintain. Phase II: CATCH UP!Maintenance happens during Catch Up! During Catch Up! expect to:
This phase is the most challenging, as you confront your relationship to food. If you’ve been losing weight, you’ll probably want to continue losing weight, but during Catch Up! we insist that you stop. You will weigh yourself only once (at most twice) a week just to check your weight shifts. It’s okay to gain one or two pounds. The body’s weight does fluctuate, and often a weight gain of one or two pounds can follow a cleanse. This maintenance period allows your body’s tissues time to “catch up” with your weight shifts so you look healthy and fit without hanging skin! Catch Up! is the time to practice a healthy lifestyle. You are forced to let go of black and white thinking (the “diet-head” mentality) and embrace the moderate, balanced lifestyle of your authentic self. You will meet your food demons head-on, and when you master this phase, you will have found your path. Phase III: JUMP START!During Jump Start! expect to:
This phase begins with a four-day intense detoxification, which gradually gets easier over the next two weeks. Your body may lose weight as its caloric intake is decreased. The danger is that your body could consider itself in starvation mode and adapt accordingly, by conserving energy, storing fat, and lowering your metabolism—the reason most low-calorie diets fail. Because NaturalSize Me! is designed to enhance your metabolism, you will discontinue Jump Start! after two weeks, increasing your metabolism by rotating back into the Catch Up! phase. As you alternate between Catch Up! and Jump Start! your body will discover its natural weight while learning to love healthy food. You will discover a new way of eating and living in your body.
